So I'm (sorta) back on flight rising, because I've been playing since 2013 and I guess I'm not gonna stop ever XD I just take breaks sometimes because, idk, life is hard. But I've been on and off playing again....partially because I wanted to make fandragons from enstars.


FANDRAGONS ARE A KEY PART OF MY LAIR OKAY MY FIRST EVER DRAGON IS BAKURA AND HE'S PERFECT.
I haven't quite finished the ones I'm working on, but they're coming along nicely I think :D I'll share them once they reach a point that is...complete, I guess?

I haven't done much of anything the past couple days...Liz did get 3 copies of Shinobu from the event, so I'm very happy for them!!! I ended up with 3 copies of the Subaru from the graduation tour in engstars, because I had such a good event bonus???? idk entirely how it happened, but he's a really good vocal-based red card, so he'll fit right in with my red team. And the next Trickstar event is red, so.......I'm prepared!

Pat bricked his laptop today while trying to install Linux on it, and I couldn't get it fixed ;w; I only tried for a bit tho, so I think if either of us took the time we could get it booting again. He did back everything up first...which is good, just in case we have to wipe it all. I don't think that's necessary, but I'd need some more time with it to be sure :T

What else...

I recorded a bunch of enstars MVs to make icons with, mostly for monthlyinspo. This month's challenge is "head to toe", so basically full body crops for icons. And MVs are a great source of fun poses + the ability to put anyone in any outfit in them makes for nearly endless possibilities. I'm currently working on Leo ones, because I realized I'd made like none Leo icons, and that's a crime.

Also I swear I've done nothing but drink water lately and I'm still fucking thirsty. Urgh. I guess I'll trying having a Gatorlyte and hoping for the best :T WHATEVER.

JP is passing out 10 scout tickets like fuckin' candy this week because it's Welcome Festival, and today there was a guaranteed 5* 10 scout!!!! I've wanted this Kanata for soooooo long; he goes with my favorite Madara card (sad wet boy) and he's just really pretty in general *w*

SO THAT WAS NICE!!! Especially since I got a third copy of Kaoru's first feature scout, something I have never asked for but see all the time anyway. Such is gacha life!

In less fun news, I was completely unable to sleep last night. I felt like ass, so that meant...no sleep for me??? I have no fucking clue what's wrong with my body. So, instead of laying in bed staring at the ceiling for hours, I got my laptop and made icons XD I finished sets for ic_animated and iconcolors :D I'm honestly very pleased with all of them...the challenge at ic_animated was unique in a fun way, and I used all of one screencap from all those YuGiOh episodes I downloaded. I'm, uh, good at things~

I did end up taking a nap in the middle of the afternoon...me and Lumos had a cat nap on the couch together ♥ I still don't feel great, but that helped somewhat.

Speaking of Lumos...I have some very cute pictures of her to share!!! Now that we've separated the cats in the house - Lumos on the first floor, Dennis and Lily on the second and third floors - she's starting to come out of her shell again!!! She just doesn't get along with Pat's cats and it's been stressing her out ;w; But I'm glad to see she's doing better!!!!!

So that's all very good ;w; I'm just happy that Lumos is happy. She still keeps trying to come upstairs with us some nights, but I think the disappointment at not being able to sleep in our room is far less than the stress of being around the other cats all the time. I think once we're out of the adjustment period and she forgets about the upstairs, it'll be just about perfect :D

I'm also at risk at just rewatching all of YuGiOh, but that's unrelated to Lumos- tho she did seem quite interested in the dub when I was screencapping an episode XD She has the worst taste, I swear...it's very cute.

Final flex for this entry: I managed to perfect combo Ruby Love in engstars again!!!!! I did it during the event and just made peace with knowing I'd be giving up that saved autoplay, but apparently not!!!! I did it again! thx graduation tour for making me give it a shot~~~

TORRENT FASTER, DAMN YOU!!!!!! XD I'm currently downloading a bunch of my favorite anime for the current challenge at ic_animated, because it involves using caps from either the 14th episode of the 3rd season or ones taken at the 3:14 mark of any episode/movie. SO!!! I'm gonna make some Magi and YuGiOh ones, but I didn't have them on hand.

....so now I'm downloading 59 gb of YuGiOh because I have no self control XD

FEELS GOOD THO!!!! Feels good to download an irresponsible amount of anime that I will almost immediately have to shove onto an external hard drive XD Also, just...fuck, I love YuGiOh, every time I think I've moved past it, it returns. At any moment, I'm about ready to fall back into it, and that's great ♥

Also, congrats Leo for becoming the 5th character I've gotten to rank B in engstars!!!

I'm currently finishing up a late dinner of sausage gravy and biscuits; once the gravy thickens up, I will be tucking into it!! I'm so ready :D

FRIDAAAAAAAAY!!!! The day started with us booking it to registration so I could grab my badge before heading to the room for our panel- Anime Before Anime: Animation in Pre-WW2 Japan. Even though we got there 10 minutes early, there was already a huge line waiting to get in OwO This is the second time we've run it at katsu, and both times now it's gotten a really good reception :D

This year, I recorded Liz and Pat presenting it, so we now have a solid recording- or at least I hope so XD I haven't had a chance to review the footage yet, because you know, con weekend~

OH RIGHT. I didn't end up styling Ibara's wig on Thursday night, so I went in casual clothes + a fun wig so it'd be easier to get around and shop and such. Which was nice! It's always very cramped, especially artist's alley, so being more mobile made it slightly easier.

...only slightly, though, because it's still fucking Katsucon XD

We managed to hit artist alley before the infamous(?) "sewage" explosion!!! A pipe burst on Friday afternoon/evening and dumped gross dish water from the kitchens into artist alley, right on top of someone's booth D: I feel so bad for who it affected ;w; I really hope they're able to get some sort of compensation or something, since that fucking sucks!

Anyway...I usually try to do a full round of artist alley + dealers room before buying anything, but I couldn't resist the allure of Yu-Gi-Oh!


also the artist very kindly gave me badge ribbons for buying so much stuff XD I was just so fucking excited to see anyone selling ygo fanmerch *w*
And then the hell gauntlet: Dealers Room. It's soooooo big and katsu is so hit or miss for dealers, so it ends up being a lot of walking around to find a few gems. But that's cons babeeyyyyyy!!!! Honestly, one of the best parts wasn't even shopping: it was catching up with Tasty Peach! I've been buying their adorable plushies for so long, I've gotten to watch them go from a tiny booth in artist alley to a large presence in dealers room to seeing their stuff for sale in Hot Topic and other physical stores, which is so awesome. Apparently, they have stuff in fucking Epcot now!!!!!! I got to see pictures and it was just so wholesome to see how far they've come ;w;

BUUUUUUUT we only got about halfway through dealers room before we had to bitch out because we were exhausted. I ended up sitting in the lobby for awhile, watching the world go by, while Liz and Pat got our stuff out of our locker. Right before they got back, I saw a Kohaku cosplayer in the Spring Night outfit and let me tell you, the way I practically flew out of my seat to go say hi...

Since we had cosplay to finish - me and my wig styling adventures lmao - we went back to our hotel to get to work!!! If I never touch glue again.....

Also, we had snacks in our room, so we didn't have to pay out the ass for a meal in National Harbor XD

However!!! Some local-ish friends that Liz and I first met at Otakon were also staying in Alexandria, just in a different hotel, so we went over to hang out with them :D Liz was still in Nagisa at that point + they cosplay Hiyori and Jun, which meant that after gossiping for like two hours, I took a bunch of pictures of them. I'm looking forward to going through all the raws of those shots once I feel a little better~

By the time we got back to our hotel room, Pat was getting ready to get a Lyft back to the con for the raaaaaave~~~ Because I was still having a rough time with pain + wig styling to work on, Liz and I stayed behind and just kinda chilled while making glue wefts for Madara. It was sooooooooooo time consuming ;w; They look damn good, but I thought my fingers would be covered in UHU + PVA glue forever D:

After all the wefts for his braids were glued on, I realized two very important things:

1. the glue was gonna take awhile to dry before I could safely tug on the hair enough to braid it
2. we hadn't eaten any "real" food since the continental breakfast at around 9 am, and it was now after midnight

So, it was off to the 24 hour diner!!! There was one across the street from our hotel, which was very convenient after a long day. It's a local chain and we actually went to one of them after Anime USA back in October, and I remembered it being pretty damn good- and I was right! idk, maybe it's just me, but diner food always tastes best at 3 in the morning.

I somehow thought I'd be able to get back to the wig after eating, but it was like...4:30 am at that point???? So we passed the hell out, thus ending ~day 1~ of the con!

Anyway! Hi, I'm Killian~ I just turned 34 earlier this week and I live on the east coast of the US - though not in the same state that I grew up in! - with my wife dragonofeternal & my bff arahith. We bought a house a couple years ago and very quickly filled it with a delightful amount of fandomy things, as well as our four cats :D I'm currently a creative writing student, and I'll be finishing up my associates degree this spring, with hopes to transfer to a bigger university to complete my bachelors. Very exciting!!!!

I'm currently deep, deep in Trigun hell, thanks to my wife dragging me into it last year ♥ It's got me in a fucking death grip; I got out of watching the 98 anime and IMMEDIATELY started writing fic, the same day, and that fervor hasn't really subsided yet XD It's, uh, really good, I swear!!!!!!!

One of my first loves is Kingdom Hearts, and it will always have a very special place in my heart. I enjoy JRPGs in general, particularly Final Fantasy VII & X and the Persona series. Other "previous" fandoms include Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic, Mo Dao Zu Shi, and Yu-Gi-Oh!........though previous is a kinda strong term, since I can never truly leave a fandom behind.

Fun fact: my wife and I met through Homestuck, and they decided to date me despite the Eridan sleeve tattoo I have XD That's true love, baby!!!! We've been together for over a decade now ♥

Other fun fact: my desk has been dubbed the "ita desk" because of how extensively I've decorated it. I'll share a pic and let y'all be the judge of that XD


Okay okay okay, lemme try to wrap this up some~ When it comes to participating in fandom, I mostly write fanfiction, all of which can be found at my AO3. I'm the most active on bluesky, because it's still fairly slow moving and lowkey, with a lot of the features of Twitter I use most. I also cosplay occasionally, but not as often as I used to ;w;

I've fallen back into YuGiOh hell, which I was guess was always inevitable but I didn't expect it to hit me this hard, this quickly. Legit I watched like two episodes of Battle City and wham here I am!!! Back on my bullshit!!! It's been over a decade since I've been this intensely invested and somehow it's all coming back to me. Like all the fucking ship names- really glad I have all those taking up space in my brain, instead of anything useful XD

But really...the most frustrating part is I know I had tons of fic ideas back in the day - because Pat and I both remember talking about them and I've found a ton of word docs with vague beginnings of some - but I can barely remember any of the details. And of course we mostly talking about them out loud, during our late night dates in the Taco Bell parking lot. So now we have to put them back together from our fragmented memories and the few snippets I've found on old hard drives.

Day 2 | Rec at least three fanworks that you didn’t create.

So uh, today got rather long. I know it said three, but I got carried away and ended up with closer to...20. Okay, look, I really like fanfiction :D Full disclosure though, some of these are rather old and I haven't reread them in awhile, but I distinctly remember my younger self loving them. So they're still on here, because they shaped what I enjoy and how I write.

Organized by fandom, but other than that they're not in any particular order. I don't like to rank fics by quality or whatever.

I've been writing fanfiction again. I started a little fic called Unintended back in January & then promptly got writers block. LOL A FAILURE IS ME. But on Thursday evening, I just picked up a pen and started writing. WUT. I've filled 20 pages front and back of a spiral bound notebook.

Apparently I either write a ton or nothing at all. OKAY THEN. I'm going to work on typing it up either today or tomorrow...because right now it's just in my notebook. It's never going to make it to the internet from there XD

MY FAVORITE PART: I have perfect Catholic school cursive handwriting. I now have a notebook full of yaoi...and it looks like it was written by a proper old Catholic woman. lol oh god. My life. It is...something special, to say the least.

Also, I'm not even halfway done with this chapter. HOW DO I DO THESE THINGS?? It was just supposed to be a short flashback chapter. haha nope. I blame Malik & Yami Malik. Those two idiots never stop arguing.

PAT IS HOME IN A WEEK AND A DAY I CAN'T WAIT OH MY GOD. HIS GERMANY TRIP HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR TOOOOOO LONG.
