18th-Feb-2026 05:14 pm - Highlights from Katsucon
setsuntamew: (Kohaku & Madara → ring around my finger)
I only went to one day of Katsucon, but omg it was fantastic this year!!!!! Alex was house/catsitting for her sister for the weekend, and since her sister lives near DC, it was closer than our place. Sooooo Liz and I headed there Friday night, grabbed a very late dinner at McDonald's with Alex, and then watched a bunch of enstars videos on youtube so Alex was ready to be excited for Absolute uwu

Also, she gifted me an adorable new friend, who goes absolutely perfectly with my CNstars cat nuis ;w; I also made them ice cream cones to match Madara's global exclusive card, and I think they came out really good ♥

if anything happens to my tutulong I'll just fucking die lmao

.....and then I stayed up waaaaaay too late because I'm fucking nocturnal D: Even though we had to wake up at 7 am to drive down early enough to get parking....I'm not smart :T

Liz and I didn't cosplay this year, cuz I didn't feel up to it, so I wore...a wig, a corset, and a floor length skirt XD wig is my Mayoi wig that I haven't styled yet - I pulled it out of the bag on Friday night and was delighted to discover that it's a lacefront - and the skirt is one I made for the Vampire Ball Liz and I went to in 2017. This did end up biting me in the ass because the corset ended up not sitting super well by the end of the night D: But we'll get to that later~

First thoughts on this year's katsu: holy shit I didn't realize how bad lobbyconning had gotten. I could actually move through the halls without be crushed by crowds????? Like, I was there on Saturday and I didn't feel cramped every second of the day. They did move registration to its own building, which freed up space to give Artist Alley a larger location, but still. It was really nice to be able to breathe during the con.

After getting our badges, we ran into some friends of Alex and Liz that they hadn't seen in over a decade, so everyone had a good time catching up. Which is, tbh, a classic Katsucon experience, since so damn many people go.

The first programming we went to was an absolutely delightful performance by Special for Princess!- or should I say Nice? XD Nice Arneb Thunder was MCing and they did a fucking incredible job. like. not to spoil it or anything, but this was such a highlight of my day, idk if anything topped it :0

Also, the esupuri group was just really sweet!!! They seemed so excited and a little surprised that so many people had come out to see them ;w; But seriously, they were quite good and did a good combination of songs and games. The trivia was great for me and Liz, since we actually keep current with the JP stories~ Liz won a tiara for answering some 4piece trivia correctly!

We hit up the Artist Alley for a bit after that, got lost in conversation with a Nagisa cosplayer who usually cosplays Double Face Kohaku, and I was blown away by their gorgeous ita bag. They had so many can badges from the DF TRIP album *w*

....and then we remembered we woke up balls early and Liz & I hadn't eaten :T So after debating a few options, we made our way to our tried and true katsu food: Mezeh. They opened sometime between katsu 2017 and 2018, and we've gone basically every year since. It's affordable and actually filling, especially since they have fresh veggies. Sometimes you gotta get some greens in you- especially at a con!!!

not me sounding like an ad read for my favorite fast casual restaurant lmao

The dealers room is a bit of a blur to me because it's soooooo big and there's so much to see, but I remember it being.....fun? Busy? It was probably one of the more cramped places at the con, but that was partially because some people are just rude. Many people shoving their way through...I didn't come with much money cuz it was a last minute decision to even go, so I wasn't sure about buying anything besides maybe something small from the idol goods booth. But since the idol goods booth wasn't there this year (?????), I ended up getting a new ita bag~

I'd seen it around on insta and lusted over it, so now it is mine!! I'm planning something around Double Face's TRIP album for it OwO

And then we had to hustle to finish artist alley before it closed, cuz we weren't coming back on Sunday D: Liz and I weren't planning on spending any more money, but 1) Alex wanted to buy more stuff and 2) we still wanted to see all of it. And in the end we did buy more XD We got a few more Trigun charms from [instagram.com profile] magpiesoddities, because we've been collecting their super chibi ones since Stampede came out~ They also gave us a free plantcest sticker for being men of culture (perverts).

uhhhhhh what did we do after that..............

OH RIGHT!!! Liz and I chilled on a bench sorta new the dealers room/artist alley area while Alex went to the MXTX photoshoot, and basically just took in the sights. I love people watching at cons :D We also got to help some youths (late teens/early 20s maybe?) learn the ways of Caramelldansen. They knew the dance and song, and it sounded like they'd heard people used to dance to it at cons? So they were trying to figure out how to bring it back. So while it was a conversation that made me feel very old, it was quite wholesome.

After debating back and forth a bunch, we ended up eating dinner at the grab and go place in the Gaylord. It wasn't necessarily "cheap" but like...nothing in National Harbor is, you know? And we didn't have to leave the building, which was a big plus. I'd never grabbed anything from there before, so now I know that it's not half bad.

We wanted to go to the video game room next, but my corset was fucking killing me and I needed to find a family bathroom so Liz could help me loosen it (since all the handicapped stalls in the Gaylord are barely wider than regular ones). So that was quite the fucking adventure. BUT WE EVENTUALLY DID IT. And I've learned I'm never wearing a floor length anything to Katsucon again.....idk how I forgot this lesson from 2017 lmao.

Next up: video game room! And..............it kinda fucking sucked??????? Lie, the games were brought from the same people who supply them for a video game bar I go to here in Baltimore, and usually it's a much better selection?? Like how did Anime USA, a significantly smaller con than Katsucon, have such a better video game room? idk man like......it was kinda disappointing. They didn't even have Chunithm ;w; And it closed at midnight, which is baffling. Katsu used to run sooooo late into the night, I swear it was originally a 24 hour con. Maybe I'm wrong? But I've been going for 17 years now, so I'm pretty sure I'm right :T

Whatever! Alex is gonna come down so we can go to the much better video game bar here~

After we watch cookie monster and godzilla have a cage match in the hall, we were all wiped and ready to head home. So lemme share all the pics I didn't include throughout the entry, cuz it would have ended up even longer :T

welcome to the party (many katsu pics inside) )

Happy Valentines and goodnight from the boys!!!! I carried many nuis around all day but tbh it was such a rush that I barely took the time to sit, let alone take pics of them D: I will say that the cat kigu nuis with their ice cream cones were a hit with the many Double Face fans and cosplayers I ran into~

All in all, a successful day at the con!!!!! Hopefully finances will be better and I can go for the full weekend next year, but I can now say I've been going to katsu for 17 fucking years.....which is wild. Here's hoping the next 17 are even better!!!!!!
7th-Feb-2024 01:54 pm - mid-week accomplishments uwu
setsuntamew: (Legato & Knives → let me serve you)
I AM FREEEEEEE I FINALLY FINISHED THE ICON POST I'D BEEN WORKING ON!!!! It's live at [community profile] killiansicons and I'm very pleased with everything I made for it. Lotsa Trigun, because I, personally, wanted more manga icons......so I made them XD That pretty much sums up why I got into making graphics in the first place, lmao.

Besides that, I found a Trigun mood theme in the depths of LJ, so I don't have to make my own!! I know I'll never finish one - I started one in uhhhh 2009 and it's still not done - and I'm very impressed by people who can do it. Anyway. thx [personal profile] quaint_twilight for your contributions to the world :D

Last night, Pat and Liz did a bunch of work on Legato's coat, helped by projecting reference images on the wall. It was honestly super useful!!

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHH (I love nightmare Legato)

Genevieve ended up chasing the cursor across it at one point XD

Anyway, I should probably get back to class XD I have to work on a brief memoir of a specific experience, which is, uh, hard, for a person who has kept a journal for decades, somehow. And then right afterwards, Frecklez is coming over so we can practice for the gaming orchestra tonight. Violin buddies!!!!
setsuntamew: (Maki → I'll show you magic)
The past few days have been a blur of 3D printing and my newest tap tap phone game addiction: Ensemble Stars. I've been playing LoveLive since uhhhhh 2015? 2016???? but it's been a fucking shit show. SIF2 is not even close to the original, and it's shutting down in a couple months. Worldwide is apparently launching next month, but it'll only be open for a few months before it also shuts down.

WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

lays on the ground sadly

But look I hate change and I really like 1) the songs and 2) the play style of LL, so no other rhythm phone games have stuck for me. UNTIL NOW, APPARENTLY!!!! I even tried enstars a few years back and didn't really care for it, but I guess I just needed to try for a bit longer? I've barely been able to put it down since I started a few days ago XD

ANYWAY. The other important part of this post is 3D printing, namely the inevitability of me printing a bunch of tristamp Knives's blades.......not a million of them but as many as possible XD I bought a 3D model on etsy and it's been.....challenging to get it to work right, to say the least :T

Knives is disappointed in the many failures >:O

Something about the model isn't working right; it's basically too HD???? Pat's brother has been trying to help us sort it out, because where the blades come to their "sharpest" point, it's too narrow for our printer to actually render/print/something???? I dunno. I'm not good at 3D shapes in general and considering we just got this printer a few days ago, it's been a lot of messing around to try to get things to work.

Micro Center did have small packs of fun filament - because of COURSE we went back to get more already - and I also got a big thing of shiny silver to make the blades...once they work right :TTTTT I had to take a break from it for a bit.

Also, classes start tomorrow!!!! It's my last semester at community college :D I'll be graduating with my associates in creative writing after this, and hopefully transferring to complete my bachelors :D I have to work on filling out some transfer applications, but I started them just as I got sick and couldn't really work on them for the past couple weeks.

I'm both nervous and excited, tbh. I kinda thought I'd never finish any sort of college and now here I am, just one semester away from success!!!!!! And my top choice school to transfer to is definitely a reach, but I'm still gonna give it my all~~~~

Day 4 | IceBreaker Challenge! Tell us about yourself.

noooooooooooooo I just redid my profile and updated things about myself on other sites, do I really have to do it again? XD

Anyway! Hi, I'm Killian~ I just turned 34 earlier this week and I live on the east coast of the US - though not in the same state that I grew up in! - with my wife [personal profile] dragonofeternal & my bff [personal profile] arahith. We bought a house a couple years ago and very quickly filled it with a delightful amount of fandomy things, as well as our four cats :D I'm currently a creative writing student, and I'll be finishing up my associates degree this spring, with hopes to transfer to a bigger university to complete my bachelors. Very exciting!!!!

I'm currently deep, deep in Trigun hell, thanks to my wife dragging me into it last year ♥ It's got me in a fucking death grip; I got out of watching the 98 anime and IMMEDIATELY started writing fic, the same day, and that fervor hasn't really subsided yet XD It's, uh, really good, I swear!!!!!!!

One of my first loves is Kingdom Hearts, and it will always have a very special place in my heart. I enjoy JRPGs in general, particularly Final Fantasy VII & X and the Persona series. Other "previous" fandoms include Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic, Mo Dao Zu Shi, and Yu-Gi-Oh!........though previous is a kinda strong term, since I can never truly leave a fandom behind.

Fun fact: my wife and I met through Homestuck, and they decided to date me despite the Eridan sleeve tattoo I have XD That's true love, baby!!!! We've been together for over a decade now ♥

Other fun fact: my desk has been dubbed the "ita desk" because of how extensively I've decorated it. I'll share a pic and let y'all be the judge of that XD

Okay okay okay, lemme try to wrap this up some~ When it comes to participating in fandom, I mostly write fanfiction, all of which can be found at my AO3. I'm the most active on bluesky, because it's still fairly slow moving and lowkey, with a lot of the features of Twitter I use most. I also cosplay occasionally, but not as often as I used to ;w;

That's about all I've got! If you also like any of these fandoms and/or wanna be writing buddies, I'd love to be friends!!!!!

12th-Oct-2023 02:30 pm - I swear I'm gonna write a con report
setsuntamew: black and white art of Hakuryuu in profile, his hair obscuring his expression while he looks upward at the sky (Hakuryuu → overlooking things)
look, I did all 4 days of Otakon, what do you want from me? XD Anyway, I found this while trying to organize my Google Photos some and just thought it was silly ;D

There's just a lot going on here, okay? We were packing up the car to go to Miryokucon for the day and it's just...Knives body pillow, akeshu ita bag, a case of water bottles, our badges featuring lanyards covered in buttons & charms, and Liz getting into the car to drive because Legato is apparently the ultimate driving gay ;D

Also, I got the Vash & Knives plushes I ordered in the mail today :D they're very soft and cute and I'm gonna take them everywhere~~~~

Anyway, since apparently every fucking week there's some new thing, my dad had to be rushed to the hospital last week and he was diagnosed with leukemia. He's being released today and is doing better, but I don't know any exact details yet ;w; Because like, that's what I needed, right???? I needed my dad to have cancer.

RELATED to that: I completely forgot I had signed up to get a free piercing last Thursday - courtesy of Pat getting lost on the free section of Craigslist - and thankfully, they called me to remind me...approximately an hour after I found out my dad was in the hospital and about an hour and a half before the appointment. So, Liz and I hopped in the car and booked it to Rockville, because yes I agreed to drive an hour+ away, during rush hour traffic, to get a piercing XD

We made it in time, though!! And tbh the adrenaline rush was very much needed. So now I have my first ever dermal piercing, and it was honestly very easy? Barely any pain during the piercing and it stopped hurting in under 24 hours. I only remember it's there if I accidentally catch it on my clothes or something.

IT MAKES ME FEEL VERY COOL!!!! I'd wanted one for awhile, so I'm glad I got a free chance to take the leap~

And now today I have physical therapy, which...I dunno. I signed up while I was working the cake job and like super needed it, but now I'm not sure if I wanna pay $40/session for it :T We'll see.

OH MY GOD RIGHT THE BEST NEWS OF ALL THIS MESS: I finally have both my ADHD meds again, so I am getting shit done!!!!!!!!!!! :D
25th-Sep-2023 08:09 pm - some recent pics~
setsuntamew: fanart of Yami Malik in black and white staring straight ahead (Yami Malik → dark staring)
Now that I got the sad entry out of the way (sort of- there are more details I'll probably go into once it stops being so painfully raw), I can talk about the fun things that happened recently. aka, I got some shit I wanted + the mail contained things I ordered, soooooo....

First up: mail day featuring pins from konerru and SHEEB1T!!!!! They look SO good and also the extra messages/doodles/notes/etc filled my heart with such joy ;w; Glad my ship was obvious XD

THE UPGRADED SETUP!!!! It looks pretty much the same, but I'm now running Windows 10 and I'm (slowly) setting up Rainmeter, so it can look cool. I apparently wrangled Rainmeter back in oh, 2009, but it's been awhile. I'm gonna do the thing! Also, I'm rapidly running out of space for new stuff around my desk.........

I GOT THE HELLO KITTY HEADPHONES I WANTED!!!!!!!!! I'd been lusting after them for awhile, since I do have the standard wired kitty ear headphones from Razer...I just wanted bluetooth ones for on the go. And now I have them ;w; They sound just as good as expected and tbh the convenience of being able to get up from my computer and not be tethered by the cord has been really nice.

The other positive news is that I fixed the image hosting on my site so it actually loads. Yay!!!! It broke a few months ago and I'd just been manually uploading everything I needed to host, but not anymore~~~~~ The PHP version had gotten messed up and I finally sorted it out.
30th-Jul-2023 11:58 pm - Otakon 2023 - Day 3
setsuntamew: (Vash → bright expression)
THE FINAL DAAAAAAY sobs I miss it already. That's how I'm prefacing this; I already wish I were back at the con ;w; It was so fucking good!!!!!!

We once again made it to the con at a reasonable time (somehow????), despite being very tired. I couldn't find my Vashwood shirt so I said fuck it and wore cute goth shit and called it a day. I was all decked out in Knives merch, so that's all I really need, right?

Liz dropped me and Pat at the con and went to go park, so we did a quick run of artist alley while we waited...and bought another print even though we were soooooo overspent on money. Oops??? OUR BAD. We then had to zip out and meet back up with Liz.

And then....we finally went to the dealers room for basically the first time XD It was, as always, fucking massive. And we'd already spent all our money a bunch of times over, so we were just browsing. We did get to see the bullet train booth and get free swag, so that was cool!! :D

After that, we ended up hanging out with the Livio cosplayer from yesterday for a bit, which was really nice!!! I always worry I'll miss saying goodbye to people on Sundays, so it was good to find them ;w; Then we ended up back in artist alley to meet up with different friends, get the gossip on some con drama, and accidentally befriend the guy who bought the Knives Thirst Standee XD

okay so straight up I have never really gone to cons for programming. But I really loved tristamp and wanted to support it and do more!!! So we went to the autograph session for Studio Orange and I got them to sign my Knives pillow *w*

HE LOOKS SO GOOD AHHHHH!!! I got to show him to the artist and she was super excited to see him autographed :D

We then had another lunch of champions - aka lunchables - before rushing over to artist alley a-fucking-gain to see more friends before the end of the con. I'm so sad to see everyone go, but since some of them are local and others hit up the same con circuit as us, I'm really looking forward to seeing them all again ;w;

I FEEL LIKE I'M FORGETTING THINGS BUT I AM JUST SO FUCKING TIRED SOBS

The drive home was so long and so sad, but it was improved by me forcing Liz and Pat to listen to my theme music (aka MILLIONS KNIVES -Vocal Ver-) until we got to the worst rest stop on I-95. It was even worse than usual because the vending machines were entirely fucking empty????? We were so thirsty and so denied any liquid.

And then, finally, we returned home to a fresh pot of coffee courtesy of Chi ;w; It was so thoughtful to come back to ;w;

just a few pics from today )

I MISS OTAKON ALREADY!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't believe it went by so quickly and also that so much happened!!!! AND ALSO I can't believe that I wrote up a recap for every fucking day; this is a first for me :D
30th-Jul-2023 03:49 am - Otakon 2023 - Day 2
setsuntamew: (Legato → bluesummers)
Oh my god its fucking 2 am I was at the con for neay 16 hours today and it was somehow even better than yesterday!!!! I'm exhausted and I wanna pass out instead of write this, but we're currently in a huge line at McDonald's, sooooo I have time to work on this while we wait.

First of all: 10 am Trigun photoshoot, so that was hell to get to. We left Baltimore at around 8:30 and I made it on time (while Liz and Pat parked the car). The room it was in didn't even open until 10, so I ended up waiting around for a little bit just watching people go by. And then we fiiiiinally got let in :D Everyone looked so good again today and it was really exciting to see how many people made it to the shoot despite it being early on fucking Saturday.

INCLUDING A TRIMAX KNIVES!!!! I was too nervous to talk to them at first, but I ended up complimenting their costume and watching their bag for a bit, since I was too sore to take pics today. Eventually my emotional support wife showed up and I was able to properly strike up conversation. And we ended up chatting with them and one of the Legato cosplayers from yesterday for awhile, as well as some of the other people at the shoot. IT WAS SO NICE SOBS EVERYONE IS SO KIND AND LOVELY TO TALK TO!!! People have continued to be amazed by the fanfic booklets I made ;w; I'm blown away by people's reactions tbh, it's made my weekend so nice.

We ended up chatting for AWHILE, during which time we saw a Midvalley cosplayer with an actual fucking saxophone, which was awesome. After the many hours of standing and talking, I had to go sit and recover, because.....apparently I went too hard yesterday ;w; I did run around a ton, but I'm still sad I was so wiped today. Eventually I realized that I really couldn't keep walking, so Liz went and got me a wheelchair so I could actually keep doing stuff.

And then the return to artist alley so I could get a Knives button I'd seen yesterday :D I needed him for my lanyard~~~ I was gonna look around more, but we wanted to check in at the featured events room to see when we could line up for the Studio Orange panel. They ended up letting us go in at around 2 (despite the panel being at 4) because we needed accessibility accommodations.

This ended up working out really well, because we got a little section of wall to hang out at while we waited. And then, various people we'd met yesterday and today recognized us and came to chill with us. AND THEN DURING THIS CONVO WE REALIZED THAT THE LEGATO COSPLAYER WE HUNG OUT WITH THIS MORNING ALSO LIVES IN Baltimore!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There was just a ton of good conversation in general with people, including the trimax Knives that I am apparently eternally enamored with *w* They also had told an artist about the fics I gave them and wanted to introduce me to said artist... but after the panel, obviously.

THE PANEL!!!!!!

AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We got to sit in the very front row, thanks to cripple powers accessibility, and I just sorta charisma'd our entire group with me uwu Liz recorded the entire thing and I took a bunch of pictures, but there's so fucking much that I think it needs its own post tbh. Just know that they were playing my song in the room (MILLIONS KNIVES -Vocal Ver-) and I was so happy for it. Also, Studio Orange was just so nice and excited so see how many people love Trigun here in America ;w;

ANYWAY!!! We then went off to the artist alley with our Knives friend and met up with the artist....who I'd gotten some charms from yesterday!!! They were super fucking impressed with our fics and very grateful, and it's just been so fun to see everyone's reactions ;w; I GOTTA BRING MORE TO THE NEXT CON BUT THE PRINTER BROKE SO I'M FUCKING DYING OVER IT.

uhhhhh

There was a lot of wandering around artist alley before finally being like fuck we should eat because it's after 6 and we still haven't eaten, like, all day. Dinner of champions: Lunchables and pudding/jello cups! :D

Okay, so after eating, we went on a wandering adventure through the con center, looking for something to do. We tried to see the Ota Museum, but it was already closed. And then we hiked back across the con center to try to go to the manga librar...which had closed early. fucking. We ALSO found out that we had to return the wheelchair by 9, because I guess disabled people don't exist after sunset????? Whatever.

OH RIGHT OKAY we'd been preaching the good word of Knives/Legato all weekend, and even gotten some people to join our discord server :D Which worked out because one of them ended up mentioning that they were just chilling outside of artist alley and since we didn't have any other plans, we went to hang with our new friend the Livio cosplayer~ For like, hours, just chatting with them and a Wolfwood cosplayer they'd met. It was very much like the best kind of con energy tbh!!!!

Once it was around 11? 11:15? We were all like fuck shit it's getting late - the Livio had to pack up for check out tomorrow and we had an hour drive home - so we parted ways. We went up the escalators towards the exit and...ran into the Knives and Legato cosplayers we hung out with a ton earlier XD So it's Saturday after dark and we're literally about to leave to go home, but I'm just like JUST KIDDING, TIME TO HANG OUT WITH FRIENDS AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!! We ended up wandering with them and their friends for a bit before finally going to see the AMVs after dark...because nothing says the beginning of a beautiful friendship like watching hentai together ;D

And those went until 1:30 am, which is when the con closed for the day. They were basically like "okay you saw your Frosty the Snowman hentai, now get the fuck out of here" and we did!! The end- for now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

god I'm so fucking tired. This was written over the course of our drive home and finished up from the comfort of my own couch. I'm gonna go pass out so I can experience more con tomorrow~~~~~
29th-Jul-2023 12:48 am - Otakon 2023 - Day 1
setsuntamew: (Knives → frustrated)
Day one, success!!!!!!!!! I had such an amazing day and I'm so exhausted now, but it was so worth it :D

Somehow made it to DC by about 10:30 am, which is a new record for us getting out of the house at a reasonable time. I'm gonna try to pull it off again tomorrow....hopefully... We started by getting a lay of the land, as if we haven't been to the past few Otakons or anything XD I was playing "spot the Wolfwood cosplayers by looking for the punisher" as we wandered around, which was fairly successful.

We ended up lining up for artist alley at around 11:30, even tho it didn't open until 1, because I wanted to participate in a bunch of stamp rallies and also get a kuroneko plush that the artist only had 15 of. We talked to a lot of cool people while waiting, including some other Trigun fans who gave us LOVE & PEACE ribbons to put on our badges :D They also were running the Trigun shoot later, so we got to see them again... though more on that eventually XD

THE ARTIST ALLEY IS SO FULL THIS YEAR AND IT WAS LIKE A FUCKING FEVER DREAM AHHHHHHHH I LOVE ART AND BEING IN SUCH A POPULAR FANDOM IS DANGEROUS TO OUR FINANCES BUT IT WAS SO GOOD!!!! We ran all over the place collecting stamps for three (3) different Trigun stamp rallies, and got some pleasant surprises along the way. One of the participants was a friend of ours from MDZS and another lives only about 10 mins from us!! Small world!!!!! I was also on a quest to collect every Knives there, but our $$$ ran out before I got them all. OH WELL. We also got the very minimal amount of Legato merch we could find, and Liz got a Livio charm, surprisingly.

Anyway, we ran around for about an hour and a half before heading to dealers room...mostly so that we could sit at the tables there and eat our lunch. We packed Lunchables, fruit snacks, and pudding cups, and it was actually super helpful! It saved us from having the buy a meal while in DC :D It was also just super nice to sit comfortably and vibe while eating.......until the karaoke started up. Why the fuck is the karaoke being hosted in the middle of the fucking dealers room??? I have no idea, but it was....not great, to say the least.

And then....TRIGUN MEETUP TIME!!! We got to meet back up with the cosplayers we met yesterday beforehand, and then I took a billion pics with my nice camera. The auto-focus on my lens decided to crap out right at the beginning, but whatever, I know how to focus on the fly at least. I have so many pictures to go through after this weekend is over *w*

STUDIO ORANGE CAME TO THE MEETUP AND TOOK PICTURES OF THE WHOLE THING AND AHHHHHHHH IT FEELS SO COOL TO HAVE THE FUCKING ANIME STUDIO COME TO THE PHOTOSHOOT ACTUALLY????? AHHHHHHHHH!!!! I of course missed getting a picture with them because I was too busy taking pictures myself, but oh well!! Still fun!!!!!

After the shoot, we sat at a table in the main area and watched cosplayers go by while I rested up. We also chatted some more with the people who ran the meetup....mostly about how much we love plantcest and how we can't understand antis who stan Knives.

Eventually, we walked over to the Sbarro that's practically attached to the con center and had a quick, cheap dinner. The heat was fucking terrible though, straight up, it's so fucking bad. Just the brief walk nearly ended me ;w;

And then we returned to the artist alley, since we'd kinda speed run it doing the stamp rallies. We went through the WHOLE DAMN THING and I'm so proud of myself for all the stretching I've been doing, because I powered through the whole thing without a break. We talked to so many people and they were all so nice and I just am full of so much love for being at cons again ;w; I want to just keeping doing this forever, which is good because I think we will.

I ALSO GOT FUCKING THIEF KING BAKURA STICKERS!!!! There's never Thief King stuff, ever, so I was very excited. The artist is also taking preorders on a BAKURA BAG, so as soon as I have money again, I'm getting one. It's so important to me. I love him so much ♥

uhhhhhhh god I'm fucking tired

I had to go sit in the accessibility rest area and recover after doing the entirety of artist alley in one go, though, especially since I kept stopping to talk to people. We had more snackies (cheez-its and pepperoni) and chatted about the bullet train XD I also made the maybe stupid decision to redo my lanyard to be entirely Knives tomorrow, in honor of the Studio Orange panel. But I had switched to P5 lanyard, and that just won't do........so Pat's currently making me a new lanyard to use tomorrow XD What's a con without last minute sewing????

Anyway!!! That was most of the day, we were there for over 12 hours and while I'm in pain, it's not nearly as bad as it's been recently. Here's hoping to an even better day tomorrow!!!!!

god I'm so tired but I wanna share some pix )
23rd-Jul-2023 02:00 pm - nostalgia weekend go!!!

I FOUND A SHIT TON OF MY OLD MUSIC!!!! APPARENTLY I WAS SMART ENOUGH TO BACK UP MY ITUNES LIBRARY IN 2008, SO I HAVE MOST OF MY OLD MUSIC AND PLAYLISTS FROM HIGH SCHOOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! IT'S SO GOOD!!!!!

Other good news: we're going to fucking Otakon!!!!!!! It's not really fiscally responsible, but we wanna go to the Studio Orange panel and see other Trigun fans and experience anime for a weekend. And then Liz's new job starts next Monday, so we'll be okay.

Other other good news: I'm using Otakon as an excuse to start stretching every day, so that I can be in better shape for a weekend of running around an anime convention. I know that I can't fix a decade of fucking it up in ~2 weeks, but I'm gonna do what I can!! I'm already feeling better :D I'm also feeling better mentally, and not just because I'm on my meds again. I think exercise is legit helping, which I fucking haaaaaaaate because it always works this way but still!!! How dare doing the right thing work?? XD

ALSO!!!!!!! We've been on top of updating our 2000s/LJ Trigun AU, as in we updated it twice this month. However, in finding old playlists, I had to discover that a huge chunk of one of the ones we made for the fic is basically the same as a playlist I made Pat in high school XD How could I have fucking known that the fanfic I'm writing to revisit only the best parts of my youth could possibly accidentally recreate things I made then? XD

Someone please shoot me though; why was I Hate Everything About You on nearly every fucking playlist I made back then? And why did I have Knives listening to it in the most recent chapter???? BECAUSE IT WAS POSTED BEFORE I FOUND ALL THIS MUSIC AND SOMETIMES BLORBO IS TOO REAL, OKAY, MY LIFE IS HARD!!!!!!

Life is going a lot better than it was even a month ago, though. So that's good!!!!! :D
