CON CRUNCH CON CRUNCH CON CRUUUUUUUUNCH~~~~~~

aka we leave for Katsucon in approximately 12 hours and we're still sewing and we're in the midst of a minor emergency, starring Pat's sewing machine. His is a really nice, top of the line machine, super good at everything it does, etc etc etc, but it's been in need of servicing for a bit now. And of course now is the time it's decided to be a difficult little shit!!!!! Right when we were working on the top stitching for Legato's coat, aka when it HAS to look perfect.

ENTER THE SAVIOR: Increase Mather, the $90 entry level machine I got my freshman year of college (January 2009), the most basic of basic. He was technically a joint purchase with one of my closest friends in college, but I ended up with him after we both left the school.


Named because of something Cait was reading for class and immediately covered in stickers, because 19-year-old me had some good taste ;D I didn't have a proper table in my dorm room, so I sat on the floor like gremlin and worked XD


Some of the stickers have faded and the plastic has started to yellow, but he's still here and he still works!!!!!
I'm so fucking glad I have a backup machine. Liz does too - theirs is basically a slightly newer version of mine - and we're making use of both. Mine is set up with black thread for sewing all the lining and Liz's has the thicker white thread for sewing pleather. The needles and specialty foot we got are universal, so they work perfectly with even our basic machines.

Just!!!! This isn't the best machine by any means, but I got it because I wanted to make my own cosplays and it's still helping me, even all these years later ;w;

yes I've been up for 20+ hours, how did you know?

oh man oh man, it's been too long. I've just been SO BUSY.

House tonight was fantastic, just so we all know that.

I spent the whole episode squeeing with Cait and in house_wilson. IT WAS SO AWESOME. kjhfisdhf. I love when these things are just...happy catted.

Cait is currently drawing me Akuroku fanart, my life is happy :3

Also the local news is covering some bit of House (wtf) so I'm going to go watch that now.

Also, Cait and I went to CVS at midnight to pick up some credit card gift cards. We're ordering her pleather for Organization coat tomorrow. She's cosplaying Xion with Patti & I at Tekko, which will be super spiff :3 We will be so popular...again XD

Cait & I made ourselves dinner tonight! It was super exciting :3

So, back story. Cait got back from Megacon on Sunday night and has been craving ramune soda since then. There was a snow day on Monday!!! during which we just sat around and playing KH2. I'm replaying it so Cait can get all the storyline. I've made a KH fangirl out of her :3

Also, we did a photoshoot out in the snow. She's Sakura from Naruto, but as if she were in the Akatsuki. She ran around in the snow while I froze my fingers off taking pictures. Also I know nothing about Naruto, so like the whole thing makes no sense to me...I'm reading it soon though, I just get distracted easily...

SO!! Today after class, we took the zipcar out to hunt down Japanese food. The first Asian food store we went to was in the ghetto and was SUPER epic. It was literally a warehouse. It just had a slab of wood as the door, the inside had no heat, barely any light, and just had huge amounts of rice, Japanese food, and chairs for sale. wtf at the chairs. But yeah, it was AMAZING. Super ghetto too, which reminds me of home...I feel like I'm living in such a fancy neighborhood these days XD

ANYWAY. Since they didn't have the soda, we went to the next place. We pulled into a Panera parking lot to borrow their wireless so we could Google maps the directions. When we got there, it turned out that they were closed on Tuesdays.

Instead of hunting down more free wireless, we went to CVS and bought a map of Baltimore. FINALLY. So we used the map to get to another Asian food store. We drove past the street once because it was named something different, which made me laugh. ALL of Pittsburgh is like that...or there are just no street names listed ANYWHERE. It's great.

This place was AWESOME. We ended up buying dumplings, a BUNCH of snack foods (oh shrimp chips, you are super delicious!!), chow mein noodles, soy sauce, a teriyaki marinade, tons of ramune soda, and other miscellaneous things. Then we stopped at Super Fresh to buy chicken, vegetables, and vegetable oil to fry things in.

Dinner went...interestingly. I cooked everything because Cait is a cooking hazard. The chicken was delicious, if I do say so myself. The first round of dumplings sort of fell apart, but the other ones worked fine.

The chow mein noodles...not so much. They would NOT fry D: They just turned into a gooey mass >_< So we ended up tossing them after I tried in vain to save them. Ah well. Everything else was really tasty though!!! :D Cleaning up was a bitch, but it was totally worth it.

I just...keep forgetting to update D: I've been busy busy.

My winter break was amazing. I had six weeks off and they were very very fun <3 I spent a lot of time with Patti, of course, and a lot of time working. I also went to Palm Beach for a week to visit Cait, which was SO COOL. Er, warm, actually, since I went to the beach and such.

Today I returned to Goucher~ I miss Patti like crazy already D: But she's going to visit me for Valentines day, so that will be nice. I miss her though, like a lot. a lot a lot a lot. I had a lot of trouble convincing myself to leave, but I know that we will love each other no matter where we are. Still, being apart is hard D:

I will try to be better at keeping track of my life...that's kind of my goal for the new year :D

Also, my dorm room is way overheated. I have the window open and it's under 30 degrees outside XD

Today was fun~! I love Tuesdays, NO CLASS :D :D :D

So, I went to see if Cait wanted to go to lunch at around noon. Me knocking on her door actually woke her up...which was good, because she would have slept through her class otherwise D: Anyway, I just wandered around the internets until she was done and then we went to lunch.

After lunch, Cait had a meeting. And then...shopping adventure!!! Her mom won't pay for her to use zipcar & won't let her have her car on campus, so she gets to take a taxi instead. AND she paid for it (because it's her parents' money) so I was like yay, free ride. Also, we had the greatest taxi driver EVER, he was awesome.

First we went to Target~ That was fun. Cait needed winter clothes and I got a t-shirt with a peacock feather on it :D It's cuuute. Also, Cait stocked up on food & Gaia cash cards. Since she's exacting monetary revenge on her parents for not letting her use zipcar, she bought a ton and one for me tooooo :D

After Target, we stopped into PetSmart to stare at the pretty budgies & other animals. They had kitties at this one!! The lady let me play with all of them :D I was so happy. And then we got to play with one of the snakes. FUN TIMES. We were in there for nearly an hour >_>

Then we had dinner at Panera. yummmm. I love Panera and I haven't been there forever. It was fun times. So, since our taxi driver had been so awesome and gave us his number, we called him & he drove us back to Goucher. He didn't even turn the meter on and charged us way less than if it had been on. YAY NICE PEOPLE :D

We met Elizabeth in library when we got back to campus, but eventually they left and I stayed so I could be like...ESSAYS. Which haven't happened yet, lolwut? Lazy Killian is lazy. I'll probably just mess around in Photoshop with my doodles...blagah.

My parents sent me a Halloween present :D I was really surprised by it and I love everything loads :D I even took pictures, which are under the cut :3

Today has been decent so far. I slept through my first class D: I have no idea how it happened, I woke up at 8:30 today. I guess I just rolled over and went back to bed or something...anyway. I made it to the rest of my classes though, which is good.

Also, after psych I went to lunch with Cait. ahhh such good food. I had corn fritters and a provolone, turkey, and pesto panini. I love my school food... Anyway, she had art after that, so I walked with and then went to the library. The campus cat was sitting outside playing with someone, which was adorable ♥ I love the kitty...it's just a stray that lives on campus, but it is so cute and I want my own...

All in all, today isn't too bad. I did find out that the serial number that I gave the police is the wrong one, so I have to call them AGAIN and get that straightened out D: UGH. I am so tired of dealing with the police...

Academic writing is pretty fucking awesome, the teacher seems really cool! I like her :] She's like "oh yeah, call me by my first name if you want, just pronounce it right, okay?"

Computer Science is 25 students: 20 guys and 5 girls. Goucher is 65% female. Oh, comp sci, that's where all the guys on campus hide XD It's JAVA though, which is what I took last year, so it'll be pretty easy. It seems like a more fun incarnation of it, though.

Psychology is a giant lecture :O I've never had a class of more than 20 students in my entire life...and the lecture is more than 50! It's really insane. I'm real excited though, it seems like such an interesting subject...it may end up being my major if I really like it :]

My lab is actually canceled tomorrow, so I literally have no classes :D My roommate and I are meeting up for lunch after her class, but that's all :D Oh, and then there's an LGBT meeting from 4:30 to 6:00 that I'm going to as well.

Anyway. I've been making friends. Randi (roommate) is definitely a perfect roommate. I'm not even kidding, it is perfect. We get along so well and have enough similarities and differences to make it perfect :D SERIOUSLY. So happy about that!!!! I was ultra concerned. We both are like, half social, half not, too, it's great :D AND she has a boyfriend back home, so she understands that I have to talk to Patti a lot. It's wonderful.

Maddie = a pretty amazing friend as well. She's like...ultra awesome vegan protester etc from DC, which is super interesting. She's teaching us how to make our own pads :O It's very interesting and spiff. I am much amused by all of it. Also she practically lives in my dorm room, because she lives down the hall but has a crappy roommate.

MORE ABOUT TODAY NOW! After psych, Cait (met her a few days ago) and I went to Pearlstone Cafe for lunch. Goucher has three eating places: Stimson, Huebeck, and Pearlstone. Stimson is basically a giant dining hall with a huge selection. Huebeck is mostly vegetarian and all completely organic. Pearlstone has a lot of prepared stuff and basic stables of food. I had chicken tenders and fries and then bought sushi to put in the minifidge for later.

After that, Randi and I went out to get sticky tack from Micheal's...and ended up buying those fuzzy posters that you color in. KICK ASS, man. Mine has kitties and flowers on it, hers is a complex celtic knot. Also, I bought a wooden stegosaurus to color in. We also went to Best Buy so we could get a TV cable and I needed a bag for my laptop.

Then tonight was the opening parade and festivities, which was pretty awesome. I put up pictures on my facebook, as always, which makes it really convenient (for me at least). I had to leave early because we had to sit in the grass...and I am allergic to grass D: I had to go back to my room and get anti-itch cream. I lolled around for a bit too.

Oh man, so Maddie came back to the room with us and we hung out. We talked to people in the hall for awhile and ended up leaving our door open all evening. It inspired a lot of people to come in, which was cool :D So, Maddie told us about some of the stuff she does and we colored the fuzzy posters.

Now I'm super tired and NEED to sleep, it's late D: Though it's not like I need to wake up for anything...I do have to rearrange the room though, so the TV is near the cable port in the wall D: It's a mess...I'll just work on it tomorrow while Randi is at class.

I really miss Patti, too. I don't want every single essay to be about that, but holy shit. Now everyone is on campus, so I'm seeing couples around and I just want her here with me. I love her so much and I just miss her loads all the time. It's easy not to think about it sometimes, but other times I just want to cry and just have her here to hold onto. I can't wait until October...I will see her then!!!! :D :D :D
