Today, I've done homework the exact same way I did in high school: by making sparkle icons


I DON'T EVEN HAVE ANYWHERE TO POST THESE BECAUSE BASICALLY NO ONE USES THEM ANYMORE but here I am!!! I suppose it's only one icon but like. look. I can post it on my graphics journal if I so desire and confuse all the like 3 people who still follow me anymore.

I'm not even upset - or like, no I'm a little upset that the world has moved past sparkle graphics for the most part - I'm just living in a wild fucking time where I no longer have a massive following desperately waiting for new icons to request. Which mostly means that I can't procrastinate my theatre homework any longer; I can't make a bunch of icons for people instead of doing homework XD

But like. Yeah. Here I am, I guess. Having another chunk of nostalgia in a Korean bakery/cafe while my wife infodumps about Kino's Journey at our roommate, which is just what being in my 30s is, I suppose!! :D It's not bad. It's just a time that is happening to me.

ps- if anyone does like my freebie name icons, I'm always happy to customize them for friends!!! plz plz plz just ask :D

i do want your sparkle icons! i just haven't picked out which ones and hex code(s) yet!!! Can you make them in gradients, or use more than one color per icon?
i think it was the superior graphic time, too. i could never make them though. I did run blinkie comms and make those for people

Ahhh thank you, I'm glad!! Feel free to take your time picking some out but don't feel like you have to limit yourself; I love making them and it has been so many years since I have, I'm itching to do whatever :D I can do gradients/multiple colors for most of them, too!

It was SUCH a good time for graphics!!!!!! I miss all the communities and the era of making and requesting stuff, since it felt like everyone got to know each other (or at least their names + fave colors) really well, lmao. I always loved blinkies, I just never had the patience to make them. I have so much respect for everyone who did *w*

wait, those are so cute ;____; i think sparkle graphics were falling out of favor right around when i left the virtual pet game part of the internet and entered the social media part of the internet (though i do remember them from the virtual pet game part of the internet - if you could make your own sparklies on neopets, you had all the cred!). now i'm reading one of your tutorials from 2006 and i think i'll play around with that this weekend :0 (and i'll happily request one from you, if you want the excuse to make another! i just have to think of what to ask for.)

(same on procrastinating homework - i'm in the throes of my last-finals-of-undergrad-ever and my senioritis is impenetrable. i love my subject, i'm just like... okay, but do i really need to write this paper? i feel like i got the material. i don't feel any particular need to prove it. there are so many more fun ways to spend my evening.)

I made so many of these things in high school but I fell out of practice, so I'm excited to recapture it :D I hope you have fun playing around with the tutorial; I'm always happy to help if you have questions, too. All the previous name/custom icons I've made are here for your perusal! I can make most of them in multiple colors as well. I just used to only allow one because um back in the day I had hundreds of members of my icon journal so I had to limit things XD

(you get it you get it!!!! I'm a "sophomore" I suppose but I'm a returning student and this is the first semester I've gotten to take mostly classes for my major AND YET I am still stuck not writing things I need to write...which is bad for being a creative writing major lmao)
